funny chunky monkey

ella loves hats..and anything that can become a hat. we put her in front of the mirror after i got her sweatshirt stuck and she thought she was so cool. she just smiled and looked so proud of her new hat! ella and i had a bubble bath that belongs in the guiness book. chris added shampoo to the water just before whipping it up with a wisk (don't ask me why or how he thinks of these things). it took forever to drain the tub and get rid of them..you know how bubbles + water = bubbles... about a month ago she kept pointing at one of chris's shirts hanging on a chair saying "dada". i praised her awareness and carried on with whatever it was i was doing. then she did it again, and again, each time pointing and saying "dada" more frustratingly. i couldn't figure out what she wanted. then she started patting her chest and pointing to the shirt..i figured out that she wanted me to put chris's shirt on her..she pointed over to his hat, so i put that on her too. she was so happy. she just sat there and finished watching her cartoons in her daddy's shirt. ella is really learning so many new things lately.. she is all about hide and go seek. her favorite place to hide is in her closet. chris will say "ella, go hide" and she runs to her favorite place and waits for us to come find her. she patiently waits as we tear apart the bedroom, looking under blankets, in the bed, in the drawers, through my jewelry box, in all of her shoes...all the while hollering "where's ella? where did she go? ella?" she just stares at us from her little cave with those big eyes..until finally she makes her way out of the closet and just stands there waiting for us to turn around and act really startled and surprised to see her there. then she lets out a little noise as if to say "do it again" and gets irritated if we don't start at it all over again. she loves the suspense and she loves watching us more than the excitement of being found. today daddy was playing with "jimbo" the giraffe (he named it). and jimbo started to get a little mean with one of the other animals..."suzy" the chicken (he named her, too). so ella was watching all of this and decided that jimbo was doing something naughty and she pointed and shook her finger and said "no,no" in her cute little voice. then pulled him close and gave him a big ella kiss.."mmma". so cute. she must take note of my loving way of disciplining :) she loves to dance. sometimes i will put on some of our itunes songs just to entertain me with her moves! she spins around with her arms outstretched and sings..."Laaa" in a soft high pitch. she laughs when we spin and when i ask her if she wants to do it again she'll nod and say "ya". she will jam out in the car. she points to the radio and screams if it's not on..."do you want the music ella?" "Ya" then she bounces her head and feet and we are all happy. she loves animals. she knows alot of their sounds. lions, doggies, kitties, owls, fishes, horses, cows, monkeys. her favorite is to growl like the doggy. she did it nice and loud in the middle of relief society last sunday and all the ladies turned to look. we take her outside to see the birds every morning. she and daddy look for the kitties from our bedroom window at night before bed. we now have Llamas living on a farm next to our apartment complex that she calls "mama". funny girl. i think daddy taught her that one.

mod podge..my new friend

ella's new chair. i bought it back in feb for her birthday and just got around to finishing it. painted to match her big girl room that i dream she'll have in cali. she is so cool sitting in it. to coordinate, i made a bunch of frames to adorn her walls. pictures to post later. so easy and so fun. sandpaper. mod podge. patterned paper. oh my! this is why i don't sleep anymore..i have so many projects and so little time.

spring has sprung..

for today. i sure hope this weather lasts..we spent the afternoon at the park. ella was so observant of all the activities around her. we brought bubbles, blankets, butterfingers, and a beachball..the essentials for a BEAUTIFUL spring day. we watched frisbees fly, heard doggies bark, and wished today was just friday. back to work tomorrow. :( first glimpse of my growing babe.

the secret is out..

Thanks for all the warm wishes regarding our new little peanut! We are so thrilled! Although i am starting to think we are a little crazy to have another so soon...ella is just getting into her "i am so big and can do anything i want" stage, I'm afraid she will be a terror when baby comes...we'll see! I am definitely up for the challenge. I have been feeling OKAY. I had a few rough weeks, then everything got better...now i am back to some rough days. nausea and being tired all the time are not things i would recommend if you are a working, changing poopy diapers, trying to chase a 1 year old around, kind of a mom. Chris has been so good to let me have lots of night "off". He'll put away his studies and be Mr. mom while i sleep. such a good daddy. I am 14.5 weeks now, starting to get a belly, and really anxious to know what i am having! I was not this anxious with ella. i have been obsessed with making decorating plans for our upcoming move and i really need to know if pink or blue is IN this fall. If anyone has any suggestions just let me know! For ease, pink would go so well with ella's room, but blue would definitely make Chris smile...I might have to go have a little fetal foto session in the next week or so...we'll see! So October 5Th is the big day!! What an adventure this fall will be!! Chris is graduating in a few weeks from the U of U law school, then off to Northern Cali we go for his first job working as a family law attorney at the largest firm in downtown sactown. We are so excited! I am so proud! He is so relieved!(that school is almost done) and ella is clueless to how much our little lives are going to change. I can't believe we are moving away. I am anxious to engage in new friendships and experiences, but not quite ready to put a hold on the ones here at "home". What a growing experience it will be. A time for us to focus on our little family. A time to have Sundays all to ourselves. A time to miss and be missed. A time to live our dreams. I am so proud to see our goals being reached and our hard work paying off. The patience it has taken to get us to this point has really been strengthening. I am so glad for the journey... it really has been great. here are some old pictures that make me smile..i took these last summer in Cali when we were there for Chris's internship. Such a fun experience and such a fun "vacation" with my 2 favorite people. i know i am camera happy and i know that this blog is nothing but a ella shrine...love it! i will try to expand my blogging abilities and update you on more than new bows and twirl skirts!
